Jizzakh province is located in the central part of Uzbekistan. The total area of the province makes 20.5 thousand square km. Climate typically continental, droughty, with hot summers and moderate winters. The population is 910.5 thousand people. The province is divided into 12 administrative districts. The provincial center is Jizzakh. Other large cities are Gagarin, Ghallaorol, Pakhtakor, Dostlik and Marjonbuloq.
Length of highways with a firm covering is 2.54 thousand km., railways – 280.5 km.
The economy of the province is based on agriculture. The most valuable agricultural crops are the cotton and wheat. Besides, forage crops, vegetables, melons and pumpkins are cultivated. The cattle breeding is based on cultivation of sheeps, goats and pigs. Additional potentials are hidden in the field of cultivation and processing of fruits and vegetables.
The basic specializations of industrial production in province are processing of raw cotton, flour-grinding and food productions with share of more than 70 % from total volume of production of the province. Besides, such sectors as chemical, production of building materials, mechanical engineering and metal working are developing.
The province possesses a rich mineral and natural resources which now are used in an insufficient degree. Such metals as gold, silver, lead, zinc, iron are mined in the province. There are large deposits of iron ore, limestone, cement raw material, basalt, granite, marble, brick raw material, ochre, feldspar. On Qoytosh mine, the perspective deposits of tungsten, molybdenum in tail wastes of which there is a concentration of the most valuable mineral raw material wollastonite the areas of application of which are not limited, from production of insulating materials, additives in the paints, varnish and porcelain industries, to high precision telecommunications.
Also, the large not functioning enterprises in sphere of textile and light industries could be referred as reserve objects of attraction of foreign investments.
Perspective direction of attraction of foreign investments is development of services, including creation of resort zones and zones of rest, hunting and fishing, considering potential of artificial hollow Aidarkul and Tuzkon, national park in Zaamin district, mountains of Bahmal, and etc.
